Just curious as to how many outfits I should bring for my babyboy. Did you put him in one after he was born? Did you leave with a different one? What was your going home outift?
Thanks!

I would bring at least two. While you are still in the hospital they provide the clothing. So pick out the cutest thing you can possibly imagine, and then a backup. Because babies have a habit of messing their clothes up!
Good luck, and Congratulations!

My hospital provided all of his clothes so i just brought the traditional going home outfit. I left him in the hospital one because they were specially designed for maximum comfort around the umbilical cord. His going home outfit is hard to describe,
One. It should be weather appropriate. My son actually ended up in just an undershirt and diaper because it was super hot. I’d brought a cap and a onesie, but he didn’t need either. The hospital provides the clothes and blankets while you are there.
Bring scratch mitts too! My son tore his face apart as soon as we put him in his carseat. The nurse took his socks off and put them on his hands. lol
I had one outfit with me to bring my lil’ girl home in…big mistake!
The newborn outfit was so big on her…the sizes are so wrong! My baby wasn’t premature but could wear preemie clothes for a few weeks.
Be sure to bring something small to be on the safe side.
Well, I brought two outfits with me to the hospital, but he only wore one. The hospital pretty much provide clothing for the baby (little shirts). That is really all they need. I only decided to put a cute little outfit on him when we were going home because I was so anxious and ready to be a mommy!
Okay,
I don’t have any kids,
But when my mum is pregnant,
She packs 1 outfit just incase she has baby during the day,
and another outfit if baby is born during the night or early morning .
Pretty simple.
Just the going home outfit should be good unless you want to bring more I say take at least two in case one gets messy. While you at the hospital they will have pj’s your baby can use. CONGRAD’S!!
Didn’t have to take clothes for baby to wear in hospital, as they were provided, so all I needed was a going home outfit for him.
Had a cute little romper suit all ready for him to wear, but he ended up leaving in nothing but a singlet and nappy with a light muslin wrap over the baby capsule because it was so bloody HOT!
Don’t bother over-packing
i took a lot for my daughter they drip milk a lot. i only took comfy clothes like onsies and pajamas.the usual stay is 2-3 days so i pack 5-6 things. she ended up staying an extra 7 days with an i.v. in her foot so the only thing could dress her in was the pajama night gowns with out bottoms. like dresses and we were so anxious to get home and her foot was very swollen and bruised so she wore a comfy onsie with a matching hat.
oh yea most hospitals do provide something. my hospital only provided white, long sleeve shitrs that were big on her, so it is still funto briong things and dress them in you know blue, pink and their personal things but if your hospital provides things those are great also
I brang two outfits for my baby to wear when I got discharged from the hospital.. but they give the baby the white onesies to wear at the hospital.. so you don’t really have to use the outfits you bring… they supply all the stuff you need for the baby there.
I brought her a cute fancy dress exclusively for the going home photo, but changed her after that b/c it was cold in the hospital. I brought a couple of onsies for her to wear while we were there, three I think. We actually used all three of them b/c I had to stay for 2 1/2 days for recovery. Better safe than sorry, I would bring at least 3.
Edit: I also brought caps as well. I’m glad l did too b/c the one the hospital put on him got blood on it!
And yes, I put her in a onesie after she was born, I didn’t so much like the “paper” shirt they had on her.
Some would suggest maybe a two piece outfit b/c of the umbilical cord, although the onesie didn’t seem to bother my daughters at all.
I brought my daughter 3 onesies and a one piece outfit from Carters. She wore one onesie in the hospital and her going home outfit when we left, but I learned that for a newborn, a newborn outfit and onesies are still too big even for a full 7 lb 7 oz baby. My daughter wore Preemie onesies for the first 2 weeks after she was home.
Babies going home outfit was too big, that’s for sure lol
I took 3-4 onsies with us plus her dress. I’m glad I did because the hospital outfits were a pain. They used long sleeve shirts as the shirts and the pants lol. We were there for 3 days so it worked out well. We kept our daughter in the shirts they placed her in until the next morning (about 12hrs) and started using out onsies. Her going home outfit was also used as her picture outfit. We only live about 1/2 mile from the hospital so the trip home wasn’t a big deal as it is for many people. Plus we just went home to our kitties lol.
**Yes, definitely bring caps and mittens!! My daughter had a nice re mark on her eyelid for a couple months from where she scratched.
here in New Zealand the hospitals do not provide clothes. we bring them ourselves. I brought about 3 outfits- 2 girly ones and a nutral one just incase our baby turned out to be a boy. haha. Also one thing I did was pack a bag containing extra stuff which I just left in the car. I didnt want to bring too much stuff in but I was worried about being unprepared. we stayed at a maternity home for two nights so my extra bag of stuff was definatly a good idea.
EDIT: I also made the mistake of packing mainly two peice outfits (jumpers, pants etc). They are so awkward for new borns. THe jumpers ride up, the pants slide down etc. Just pack cute onesies. Your baby will be alot more comfortable.Oh and I was very glad I had brung my own snuggly baby blanket for her. The hospital wraps them in those horrible stiff blankets. Good luck
One outfit is enough, just for taking the baby home. While in the hospital they’ll dress him (especially that they do all kind of check-ups on the baby, it’s not worth dressing him in “real” clothes … unless you really want to for pictures and all).
And don’t forget a blanket, it might be really cold or windy when you leave the hospital and babies lose heat very fast.
Honestly my boyfriend and I were pretty much homeless until 3 days before our son was born. We had nothing! not one thing, and when he was born our family members showed up with some things for us. My boyfriends mom had brought a baby blue onesie with a matching hat and thats what he wore home.Until he went home though he was wearing one of those oversize shirts they give to newborns.
Everyone usually makes a big deal about having all these special things when you go to the hospital. I think its all overrated. The one thing I would say to have or buy there even if you can is a camera.
